Fisherman’s Village is a charming, historic neighborhood in the Bophut district on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. It is known for its mix of traditional and modern architecture, with well-preserved Chinese-style merchant houses reminiscent of its past as a fishing village. The area attracts both tourists and locals who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

A highlight is the Fisherman’s Village Night Market, which takes place on certain days of the week, usually Fridays. Here, visitors can discover a variety of street food stalls, handicrafts, souvenirs and local products. The lively atmosphere, accompanied by music and street performers, makes the market a popular destination for families and couples.

The neighborhood also offers numerous cafes, bars and restaurants serving both local Thai and international cuisine. The waterfront promenade offers beautiful views of the sea and is great for a stroll. Fisherman’s Village is known for its combination of cultural heritage and modern flair, making it one of the most sought-after places to visit on Koh Samui.

While chaos reigns in the island town on Chaweng Beach Road, everything is still orderly and particularly romantic here: The Fisherman's Village on Bophut Beach is the oldest fishing village on the island and definitely an exception on the whole of Koh Samui.

There's almost a competition among the pretty little eateries and guesthouses, turning the whole village into a boutique resort of sorts. The old wooden houses still determine the overall picture and there is a cozy calm that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of Lamai or Chaweng.

Whether yoga retreat or tapas bistro, the chilled beach bar "Coco Tams" or a candlelight dinner on the beach - the Fisherman's Village offers everything that travelers who want to escape Chaweng's mass tourism are looking for. It's small but fine. Only once a week does the "Hauptstrasse" turn into a "Walking Street" - with live music, entertainment and market stalls. However, that is the only "hustle and bustle" that you experience here.

In the evening, the main street, which is used by cars during the day, becomes a small lifestyle and shopping mile, which, in addition to the few usual souvenir shops, is peppered with nice little boutiques that sell clothes and accessories by locals or by young Balinese designers. Actually, Fisherman's Village is just a small village street, but so charming that you simply have to see it. The locals and expats living here also recommend: “Fisherman’s Village is the place to be. A style has established itself here, namely that of "small and fine". A lot has happened here in recent years, and for the better! It's nicer than ever to stroll around the former "harbour district" in the evening. There are no big hotel bunkers here; the accommodations are all guesthouses with a few rooms - some with direct beach access. This also applies to the tiny restaurants and bars. Of course, this village is also a tourist attraction, but it is off the beaten track and therefore not immediately accessible to everyone. Basically, one can confidently assume that Fisherman's Village will continue to maintain its reputation as an alternative to loud Chaweng in the future.

Now that cannabis has been legalized, the shops are literally springing up and everyone wants to sell .... the sales stands are decorated and illuminated with a lot of imagination .... real eye-catchers
