Notre-Dame Church is a Catholic church located in Dives-sur-Mer. It was the place of an important pilgrimage which lasted essentially until the Wars of Religion and the destruction of an object subject to the devotion of the faithful, a Christ the Holy Savior found according to tradition in the 11th century by fishermen; the pilgrimage then resumed until the French Revolution.

Although the current building retains elements dating from the 11th century and has suffered severe damage over the centuries, it is in relatively good condition due to successive restoration campaigns, the last of which dates from the beginning of the 21st century. It is “the most remarkable monument in Dives” according to Arcisse de Caumont. It has been classified as a historic monument since 1888. A certain number of movable items are subject to registration.

This massive church from the 14th and 15th centuries was a place of pilgrimage until the Wars of Religion. Only the celebration, a remnant of an 11th-century church, is older. On the rear facade hangs a list (carved in 1862) of the 315 brothers in arms who accompanied William on his campaign to England.

The graceful nave (15th century) contrasts with the heavy pillars and sleek arches of the Romanesque celebration. The transept, the choir and the beautiful Lady Chapel are High Gothic and date from the 14th century.

On August 6, 1001, fishermen lifted into their net a Christ without a cross whose knee began to bleed under the blows of an unbeliever's axe. No craftsman is capable of making a cross to place this Christ on it. Three years later, a cross found at sea fits perfectly with the miraculous Christ.

The legend of Christ the Holy Savior was born, this Christ was placed in the chapel, and Dives-sur-Mer became a place of pilgrimage. Over the years, the chapel proved to be too small. Thanks to the generosity of William the Conqueror, a Romanesque building was built, of which the four pillars of the choir, an arcade and a vault remain.

In the 14th century, the church was enlarged in the Gothic style.
