Monument to Karl Anselm von Thurn und Taxis (1733-1805). He was a prince and postmaster general. He is known for the expansion of the Thurn und Taxis Hofbibliothek in Regensburg and the design of the green belt around the city. He deserves the monument for the green belt alone.

Built in 1806 with stones from the former city wall. One year after Prince Carl Anselm von Thurn und Taxis died in 1806, a worthy monument was erected on the site of the demolished Peterstor Bastion. With the obelisk, the architect created the actual center of the entire avenue and one of the most beautiful squares in the city.
