One of the oldest streets in Wismar. The artificial watercourse in the middle connects the Mühlenbach with the Baltic Sea. At the fresh pit are the Schweinsbrücke, the Schabbelhaus (museum), the Sankt Nikolaikirche and a beautifully renovated half-timbered house from the 17th century.

The small watercourse meanders happily through the city and thus connects Lake Schwerin, located in the Wismar hinterland, with the Baltic Sea. A relaxing highlight is a walk through the street of the same name near the historic city center.

The Frische Grube is one of the oldest artificial waterways in Germany that run through a city. It connects Lake Schwerin with the Baltic Sea via the Mühlenteich, the Wallensteingraben and the Lostener See.Built in the middle of the 13th century, the Frische Grube served for a long time as a water supply for the city's residents. Its water powered mill wheels and was used as a supply of water for extinguishing fires. As part of the medieval city fortifications and as a former waterway of the old Hanseatic city, the Grube is an architectural monument of the historic old town that is worth preserving. The Grube was lovingly reconstructed piece by piece and enchants not only tourists with its own romantic flair.ostsee.de/wismar/frische-grube.php
