"The town hall of the Hanseatic city is located on the north side of the Wismar market square. It was built in 1819 according to plans by the Ludwigslust court architect Georg Barca partially collapsed.

The classicist building was built according to plans by Ludwigslust court architect Johann Georg Barca from 1817 to 1819 after the original late Gothic town hall collapsed in 1807. On the east side of the town hall is the entrance to a city history exhibition in the former Ratsweinkeller. The ribbed vault dates back to the 13th century.
