Between 1908 and 1961 the Fichtelgebirge Museum was housed here.
Today it serves the Fichtelgebirge association, local association Wunsiedel, as a cultural center for lectures and meetings.

The building was built between 1516 and 1522 as a "new ossuary" for abandoned graves, as the former cemetery was in the immediate vicinity. At least the ground floor of today's building can look back on a 500-year history.
