It is a Swiss and French river (in its major part) with a length of 812km (including 522km traveled in France). It has its source in the Alps at 1850 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Rhône glacier. It hurtles down Valais, Brig, Sion and Martigny before flowing into Lake Geneva.
