Location: Collonges-Sous-Salève, Saint-Julien-En-Genevois, Auvergne Rhône Alpes, France
The Salève, also called "Balcony of Geneva or Balcony of Lake Geneva", is geographically a mountain of the Pre-Alps, but geologically, like the Vuache, belongs to the Jura chain. It is in the center of a vast territory inhabited by more than seven hundred thousand people. The Salève is made up of the Pitons, the Grand and the Petit Salève and culminates at 1,379 meters at the top of the Grand Piton. It stretches between Etrembières to the north and the suspension bridge of Caille to the south. The east flank of the Salève plunges under the molasse of the Bornes plateau, while the slope towards Geneva, eroded, is steep. Vegetation, or lack thereof, emphasizes the structure of the limestone strata. The mountain is cut by several narrow and deep gorges, including the Varappe. The Salève is a natural space accessible to all and free of charge, but also a massif with pasture and forestry. It is also a terrain for sports that respect the mountain (cross-country skiing, climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking).

Great view but quite dangerous path! Better to be experienced (although we were with a kid and... a dog!)

On this short but fantastic section you should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights.
If you don't have a problem with that, you can enjoy a sensational view.
At the rock with the flag of the Haute-Savoie department is a lovely place to take a break.
