In the woods south of Vijlen there are remarkable stones in the open air. There are several stories circulating how these stones ended up here.

A big chunk of rock with lots of flint. This huge standalone rock stands at the end of the flint aluvium, a thick layer of flint under the vijlener bossen. In medieval times the people who lived in the nearby hamlets of Elzet and Rott thought this rock with firestones must have fallen from the heavens.
