The Road of Nations is flanked by brick pylons with the names of 18 nations whose relatives were imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp. Forged fire bowls form the top of the pylons. The symbolism takes up the obelisk erected on April 19, 1945 by survivors on the former roll call square with a wooden fire bowl and a scratched, warning engraving.
