The castle ruins Lichtenberg has been wonderfully restored and is always on the first weekend in September venue of the medieval castle festival. This is organized by the castle friends honorary and you will find there from medieval food over medieval music and bath tubs to blacksmith and martial arts everything that the medieval fan heart desires.

Lichtenberg Castle was once considered one of the most magnificent Renaissance castles in Franconia. Built in the twelfth century by the Dukes of Merania, it had to withstand numerous enemy attacks, was destroyed several times and repeatedly rebuilt larger and larger. In 1634, in the middle of the Thirty Years War, the castle was burned down by imperial troops.
