Built from local crystalline rubble, Schloss Sooß was originally a castle. After repeated renovation work, the technical school for ecological agriculture and home economics finally found its home in the historic walls of the castle. The castle ruins or the palace are owned by the state of Lower Austria.

    Story:
A "Hermann de Sazze" can be traced back to 1147 on today's castle ruins, which are located immediately west of the castle grounds of Schloss Sooß. In the Franciscan cadastre of 1822, Sooß is listed with the castle and several scattered farmsteads. According to the Austrian address book in 1938, an innkeeper, a blacksmith, two tailors, a shoemaker, a carpenter, a cattle dealer and several farmers lived in Sooß.

In 1938 the Hoyos family was forced to sell Sooß to the German Reich. Sooß passed to the Republic of Austria in 1955 and was sold to the province of Lower Austria in 1971. The ruins are still part of the castle, which now houses a technical school.
