The Benedictine monastery of Melk Abbey is located in Lower Austria near the town of Melk on the right bank of the Danube. As a symbol of the Wachau, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Not only the baroque ensemble, but also the dear city are worth a visit!

It is the highlight of the city par excellence and you should definitely plan a visit. Although the present building was built only about 300 years ago, since its founding in 1089 Melk Abbey has been inhabited by Benedictine monks.
