The Dillberg transmitter is located on the 595 meter high Dillberg. The Bayerischer Rundfunk has operated a transmission system here since 1955, which was initially used for VHF and since 1956 also as a television station. DAB was added in 1995 and since May 2005 digital television has been broadcast in the DVB-T standard. Medium wave was also broadcast (1969-2015, before that the medium wave transmitter was located in Nuremberg-Kleinreuth). The transmitter was the second basic network transmitter of the Bavarian radio after the transmitter Wendelstein, which broadcast the television program Das Erste.
