The Rouanet-Gymnasium Beeskow was built in 1899 and initially used as a barracks. After World War II, the Red Army used the building to house their soldiers. In autumn 1990, the building was renovated and it has since been used as a school building.

Jean Pierre Barthelemy Rouanet (1747-1837) came to Beeskow in 1781, initially working as a clerk and then rising to become senator and city treasurer. At the time of the Napoleonic occupation, his origins came in handy. With his negotiating skills, he managed to ease the burden of the occupation costs for Beeskow, which earned him much honor and goodwill from the people of Beeskow. Rouanet's granddaughter was, incidentally, the wife of Theodor Fontane.
