Not far from the open-cast mine at Herchenberg, where volcanic foam lava is mined, a chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity - God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the one God in three persons - was built. It is open to visitors (worshippers).
June 9, 2024
The Trinity Chapel was donated by Johannes Schmidgen and his wife Anna Katharina Heckenbach in honor of the All Holy Trinity as a thanksgiving. It was built in 1871 by the children Johannes and Anton Schmidgen.
