The Welsches Häusle is a reminder of the Waldensians who were expelled from French (Welsh) Savoy because of their Protestant faith and who founded Bourcet (now Neuhengstett) in 1700. On their way between their homes and workplaces in Calw, the Neuhengstett residents used the hut as a shelter to rest in bad weather. The age of the shelter is not known; it was first mentioned in 1835 as a shooting range. The linden trees around the hut were declared a natural monument in 1949.
