The cannon that is set up here is quite impressive.
This example, an 8 inch (20 cm) is one of the heavier pieces used by the British relatively close to the front to bomb the German defense positions. To this day, many projectiles of this type of cannon are still found at strategic points around Messines, Wijtschate and Zonnebeke. After the First World War, the pieces were often melted down to reuse the steel from the guns. This fact means that this type of cannon is rather rare to find today.
