In 1843, a stone fountain was added to the Plague Column on Svornost Square, which dates back to 1716, to replace the demolished Renaissance fountain in the middle of the square. The Plague Column, with a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and eight saints, patron saints of the city and protectors against the plague, is the work of the Prague Baroque sculptor Matěj Václav Jakel, and the costs were covered by Princess Marie Ernestina von Eggenberg. On the pedestals are statues of Saints Wenceslas, Vitus, John the Evangelist and Judas Tadeáš, and in the niches of the lower row are statues of Saints Roch, Francis Xavier, Sebestián and Cajetan.
