The Ruhr is here, just south of the weir in Hattingen, very beautiful. The groynes are flat and have a pebble beach, where in good weather both humans and cow cool off. The bike path is good to drive, if you make something narrow, and interrupted by several cow barriers.

The section between Witten and Essen is beautiful to cycle and almost completely car-free. In good weather, of course, many cyclists are traveling.

Certainly a very nice way to find a little cooling off on longer, strenuous tours. Is no longer a secret tip.

If you don't overdo it, the critters are "very nice"! But you can tell that they feel annoyed by the 10,000th cyclist every now and then.
    :-)
Have a good trip and greetings

From the Syburg it is definitely the most beautiful section of the Ruhr Valley cycle path.

Klugscheisser knowledge: The cattle protect the meadows from people so that they can develop undisturbed.

Unfortunately, due to the flood, it was only partially visible to me.

There is the famous cow pasture, where the cows or cattle allow themselves to cool off in the Ruhr when the weather is hot.
But you should look for other places to get into the cool water, because the cows / cattle are very curious.

Should you bathe here right away? But to dip your feet into the water is the ideal place.
