Similar to James the Elder or Nicholas of Myra, Jodok is considered the patron saint of pilgrims, travelers and boatmen, and like Rochus he is considered a helper against fever and plague. He is also mentioned as the patron saint of bakers, the blind and the sick. The St. Jodokus Chapel stands above the Steinbergsmühle in the forest. In 1908 it was built by the "Gemütlichkeit" theater association in Dernau. Since then, there have always been sponsors who have tried to preserve the building. Langenfeld pilgrims drained the chapel between 2003 and 2008, added the quarry stone masonry and set up a new seating area. The chapel cross was restored and gilded, and the window grilles were renewed.
