The Tannenhausen large stone grave is an approximately 5,000-year-old megalithic grave complex from the Funnel Beaker culture that was destroyed in the course of Christianization and the associated church building.
The large stone grave has been researched under the direction of the East Frisian Landscape since 1962. Finds such as bowls, funnel cups, shoulder vessels, collar bottles and stone implements are exhibited in the Aurich Historical Museum.
The three originally preserved boulders, also popularly known as "Butter, Bread and Cheese - Botter, Brood and Kääs", were supplemented in 2014 by seven more stones, each as high as a man and each weighing around 5 tons, which came from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the dimensions of the large stone grave to illustrate.
