At around 6.5 m high, the Meints Mill is the smallest mill of this type in Lower Saxony.

It is a one-story earth Dutchman with a codend and krojrad (device at the back of the cap with which the mill is turned into the wind by hand).

The mill was originally in Endzetel (Buttforde), where it was built in 1867 and used as a grinding and water pumping mill. In 1923, master miller Heinrich Meints bought the mill and had it rebuilt in Aurich-Tannenhausen. The mill operations were shut down around 1960.

By the 1990s the mill had fallen into serious disrepair. An association restored the mill in 1993/1994. Since then it has been fully operational again.
