This small park at the Shoemaker's Tower is named after the poet Sándor Petőfi. Petőfi was an important Hungarian poet and writer of the 19th century. He was born on January 1, 1823, and is considered one of the most important representatives of Hungarian literature and the Vormärz period. Petőfi is particularly known for his lyrical poems and political works, which played an important role during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848/1849.
