A very beautiful, spacious park near downtown Leipzig

Not far from the city center is Leipzig's largest park, the Clara Zetkin Park. The quickest way is to cross the Ringstrasse in a westerly direction at the level of the New Town Hall and after just five minutes' walk you will enter Johannapark.

In 1955, the city council passed a resolution to combine several historical parks - the Johannapark, the Palmengarten, the Volkspark Scheibenholz and the Albertpark - under the name "Central Cultural Park Clara Zetkin".

The Clara Zetkin Park (colloquially Clara Park) is a park in Leipzig. From 1955 to 2011, it was Leipzig's largest park with an area of 125 hectares under the name Clara Zetkin Central Cultural Park. In 2011, the name was changed and the Johanna Park and the Palmengarten have since been officially considered independent parks (previously they belonged to the Clara Zetkin Central Cultural Park).

Since 2011, only the previous parks of the former Scheibenholz Park and the König-Albert Park have been called Clara Zetkin Park. The park, named after the politician and women's rights activist Clara Zetkin (1857-1933), is located about two kilometers southwest of the city center on the edge of the music quarter and represents the connection between the northern and southern parts of the Leipzig Auenwald.
