In 1867, the first horse racing track with a wooden grandstand was built in Scheibenholz on "Schimmels Wiese" below the new Pleiße flood bed. In 1907, in connection with the expansion of the facility, a new massive grandstand building was built according to plans by the architect Otto Paul Burghardt. A large restaurant was integrated into the building, as the race track developed into a popular tourist destination due to its scenic location.
