This is an old converted railway line that runs from a very impressive quarry near Wilson to the Trent and Mersey Canal near Swarkestone.

It's part of National Cycle Route 6 which continues northwards alongside the canal and then on the route of an old canal (the Derby canal) into Derby. It's all off-road.

Love this little route. Bit gravelly at the start but perfectly fine for a road bike with skinny summer wheels. Lovely to get off the road and into the shade of the trees. Met a few friendly cyclists along the way.
