Grace Dieu Priory was an Augustinian nunnery between the 13th and 16th centuries but was closed when the Dissolution of the Monasteries Act was enacted in 1535. The priory went into decline from this date onwards. The ruins of the Grace Dieu Priory and its surrounding woodland, Grace Dieu Wood, are in a beautiful setting on the outskirts of Thringstone. It is well worth a visit.
