The old "donkey racecourse" route has been developed into a large park with several cycle paths around it. Good place to get used to mountain biking as it has some climbs and descents and a loose gravel surface. There is a hidden "mountain bike route" but it is best avoided as it is poorly maintained and badly designed.

Mountain biking

Holmebrook Valley Park is a great place for people of all ages to get into biking (it got me started 25+ years ago. Nothing challenging or technical just wide gravel fire roads. Some surfaces are chunkier and there is some wash out damage so be wary. You can take a few climbs and descents but really it's about tootling around. I normally pass through up to Linacre just further up..

Mountain biking

A large country park on the outskirts of Chesterfield with a beautiful lake to cycle and walk around. The gravel paths link in with the other cycle routes around Chesterfield.
