Very idyllic path along the Hasselbachgraben.

The nature reserve Laubwald am Hasselbachgraben is in the municipality of Simmerath, east of Roetgen and north of Lammersdorf on the east side of the state road 12.

This area has numerous deciduous forest stands, about a third red beech and a third spruce. The total stocks are of different ages. Lying and standing dead wood shows the near-natural forest. The Hasselbach rises above the Simonsbrander Weg and flows through the area with spring streams in natural structures.

The striking Hasselbachgraben, which runs from east to west, with its marginal footpath, belongs to the water catchment area of the Dreilägerbach Dam and was created in 1920. It begins below Raffelsbrand and flows into the Dreilägerbach Dam after about eight kilometers.

Now in September the ditch is completely dried up, otherwise you walk along the water all the time.
