In 1758, the Seven Hours Park was transformed into a public promenade. Today, it features many monuments: one commemorating the truce offered by Major C.E. Radcliffe, who was made a citizen of Spa in 1925; another to the composer Meyerbeer, who came to Spa for inspiration from 1829 to 1860; and yet another to Jean d'Ardenne, a writer of great quality, born in Spa, and an unparalleled champion of this region.
