The chapel is built in Gothic style, but the place was a place of pilgrimage long before the construction of this chapel. At the chapel is a border marker from 1551. This marker used to mark the border between Land van Cuijk and Land van Kessel and now it is the border between North Brabant and Limburg.

"...The Sint Willibrordus Chapel in Geijsteren is a forest chapel on the estate and nature reserve Landgoed Geijsteren. The estate is about 700 hectares in size and is located west of the village of Geijsteren in the Dutch province of Limburg. The Oostrumse Beek flows about 500 meters to the west the chapel.
The chapel is a national monument.
In 1948 the well and its surroundings were subjected to further investigation. It turned out that the pit was built in an old peat basin with a diameter of 12 meters. Pollen research revealed that the pool dates back to the 4th and 5th centuries AD. At a certain point, the peat basin was surrounded on three sides (west, north and east) by a moat about three meters wide and 90 centimeters deep. In the 14th century it was still open, but later the moat and then the pool closed. An elliptical clay wall one meter high and 75 centimeters wide was then built, which was open to the south side. The wall covered an area of 6 x 18 meters. The curtain wall was also flooded and a chapel was built here. With the dating of the pond, the persistence of pagan customs and the connection with the Christianization period, it is considered very likely that it is a Christianized pagan spring.
The chapel was built in the Gothic style, but the place was a place of pilgrimage long before this chapel was built. The chapel dates from around the 16th century. Next to the chapel there is an old well, traditionally known as the Holy Well, and a boundary stone from 1551. This marker marks the border between the Land van Cuijk and the Land van Kessel and is now the border between the provinces of North Brabant and Limburg and the municipalities of Venray and Meerlo-Wanssum.
The chapel has a gable on the west side. On the roof there is an open bell tower from the 16th century. ..."
