One of the most renowned members of the first German Reichstag, chairman of the Centre Party faction and fierce opponent of Bismarck, Dr. Ernst Maria Lieber (1838-1902) from Camberg, built the so-called Lieber Tower in 1889 on the foundations of a medieval fortification tower. Important discussions regarding the founding of the German Imperial Navy took place here.
