The Roman Catholic, former parish church of St. Martin is a neo-Gothic church in Oberwalluf in the Rheingau. Today it is a branch church of the parish of St. Peter and Paul Rheingau, a new type of parish. Since 2015, St. Peter and Paul in Eltville has also been the parish church of Oberwalluf (Wikipedia)

The church of St. Martin in Oberwalluf is mentioned in 1314. In 1901, today's St. Martin's Church was rebuilt while retaining the old choir. The Elisabeth altar was taken over from the abolished Tiefenthal monastery in 1803, and with it came the penitential dress of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia to Oberwalluf.
The “Elisabeth Shrine” can currently be seen here: a light sculpture by Philipp Schönborn.

In 1872, Pastor Heinrich Lauer (term in office: 1868-1889) commissioned a new reliquary altar for the precious robed reliquary of St. Landgravine Elisabeth of Thuringia (1207-1231) from the Cistercian monastery in Tiefenthal, which was secularized in 1802.
