Hiking

The tower on the Leergasse represented the south-west cornerstone of the city fortifications, which were probably built from 1332 onwards. A crenellated wall runs north from the tower. It gives an idea of the appearance of the former fortification belt, which was surrounded by a deep moat about 20 m wide. Remnants of the wall can be found at three other locations in the city area.
