After the destruction of World War II, there was initially only partial reconstruction in 1948-1949. Under the direction of the architect Rudolf Krüger (Saarbrücken), only the choir and transept were restored before the complete reconstruction was carried out in 1954 by the Saarbrücken architect Emil Tiator. However, the church was not faithful to the original, but rebuilt in a different way.
