The deep blue Blautopf also inspired Eduard Mörike to write his “Stuttgarter Hutzelmännlein” – written in Swabian dialect with a tongue twister: “There’s a little piece of lead right near Blaubeura, there’s a little piece of lead right near Blaubeura.” In it he also tells of the beautiful Lau, a cross between a human woman and a water nymph, who was banished to the Blautopf by her husband because she couldn’t laugh and only bore him dead children.
