Also for people who are bad on foot, the Oybin mountain express runs from Easter to October, departure from Oybin station.

Nicely located stopover on the round from Oybin. Rest area, playgrounds and viewpoint are available on site.

The potter is the northernmost cornerstone of the beautiful Oybin valley. Its summit is crowned by strange rock formations such as "brooding hen", "Felsentor", "chick", "turtle", "parrot" and "saurian". The “potter”, who is called “Tepper” in the monk's script, was a cult site like the “Totenstein” in the “Königshainer Gebirge” in prehistoric times.

The first pottery hut was built in 1860, after a fire the current hut was put into operation in 1905.

The rock gate on the potter is a beautiful lookout rock, but also with regard to its calendar behavior in interaction with the sun. Since 2008 it has been examined by the public and school observatory "Bruno-H.-Bürgel" in Sohland / Spree, department of archaeoastronomy.

It was found that the opening angle of the rock gate from the west corresponds exactly to that of the sunrise for the year (from solstice to solstice) and from the east the sun sets exactly in the middle of the gate at the summer solstice.
