Adds a bit more context to the scale of the buildings and ruins You can go in and stand on the top, where you can get a really good overview of the rest of the site.

The replicas of Hadrian's Wall were constructed in 1972-74 based on plans gained by modern excavation or from the extent of the visible standing remains.
They were built to give an impression of the scale of the fort and wall, but also to gain a better understanding of how the Romans built the wall and how long it might survive without being constantly maintained.
The turf rampart in the replica wall has sunk over 2 meters in height since its construction, as the turf has settled.
This may have led the Romans to eventually replace the western turf rampart and wooden part of Hadrian's Wall with stone.
