On the right side of the Adda, in the center of the S. Giacomo district, in correspondence with what was probably the first housing development, is Palazzo Pievani, named after its owners. The small church of S. Giacomo is structurally connected to the building.
The 12th-century building was almost completely destroyed by a devastating landslide on Monte Masuccio. Only the bell tower of the church has been spared and its intact presence still bears witness to the ancient origins of the entire original building. The building was then completely rebuilt in 1580.
