The home club Suderwick writes:

"A total of 3 "Büdekes" provide information about the history of the border between Suderwick and Dinxperlo with texts and images at the two border crossings and on the Suderwick village square. They are located where border traffic used to be controlled at customs booths. In appearance they are reminiscent of one of these Customs house, which the locals called "Büdeken".

The "smuggler" and the "customs barrier" on the Suderwick village square are part of the bronze sculpture group "When the smuggler with the customs officer...". It consists of four figures spread out on either side of the border on the German Sporker Strasse and the Dutch Heelweg. You can find out more about this from the information desk on the village square."
