The Kadyny State Farm - Kadyny Horse Stud was operating in the village, since 1994 it was transformed into the Kadyny State Treasury Horse Stud. In 2009 it was closed.
The first mention of the village comes from 1255. Kadyny was the seat of the bailiff's office, and later the forest district, which was subordinate to the Elbląg commander. There was a Teutonic manor farm and a hunting lodge here. The defensive Teutonic court was built in the 13th century.
In 1431, Jan Bażyński became the owner of Kadyny, who received these goods in return for the order's debts. In 1605, the last of the Bażyńskis - Ludwik Bażyński with his wife Anna née Białobłocki sold Kadyny to the city of Elbląg. In 1682, Jan Teodor Schlieben became the owner of Kadyny.
After his death in 1695, the Kadyń estate was inherited by his eldest son, Ernest Zygmunt Schlieben, who sold the village to Stanisław Samuel Działyński (the starost of Kiszewo). Kadyny was inherited from him by Jan Ignacy Działyński, from whom the younger son of Jan Teodor Schlieben - the Voivode of Livonia, Jan Wilhelm Schlieben - bought the town. In 1786 the village was bought by the Prussian general count Wilhelm von Schwerin. Then, in 1799, Kadyny became the property of the then canon of the Warmia Chapter, Ignacy Stanisław Mattha. The village was sold several times (the owner was, among others, the Struensee family). From 1817 its owner was the Elbląg merchant Daniel Birkner, and from 1827 his son Eduard Birkner.
In the middle of the 18th century, a Franciscan monastery was built on the site of a Prussian stronghold.
    Wilhelm II Palace
Eduard Birkner bequeathed the village to Emperor Wilhelm II, who became his property on December 15, 1898. Emperor Wilhelm ordered the construction of an imperial summer residence in Kadyny.
The acquisition of Kadyn by the emperor resulted in a great development of the village. The new owner ordered the reconstruction of the property and the construction of a new village according to the designs of Berlin architects in the so-called Ordensstil (from German, monastic style).
