This is the seventh stop on the Gernsbach Legend Trail. From the bench, you can look out across the Murg Valley. Countess von Eberstein also enjoyed the same view in ancient times. You can learn more about the story on the sign on the bench.

Here on the Legends Trail, the legend of the Countess of Eberstein is described

"Given the beautiful view, a look into the nearby Rockert Forest on the opposite side of the Murg River is simply inevitable.

The Countess of Eberstein also enjoyed this view in distant times. She was determined to own this forest and attempted to acquire it through ruse.

She even went to court and tried to persuade the judge to grant her ownership of the forest by swearing an oath. The Lautenbach and Weisenbach families were powerless against this oath, and ownership was transferred to the Countess. She affirmed to the judge: "As true as the Creator is above me, I stand on my own earth."

What the poor peasants didn't know: She had hidden a ladle from the kitchen under her hat and sprinkled sand from Eberstein Castle in her shoes.

However, the false oath brought the Countess no joy. Soon after, she died, and her ghost was seen haunting the forest. Then it was announced: "The Rockertweibel is going around!"
