There is something like a nature trail for rock mining at the Hohe Buche

Below the Hohe Buche volcanic peak lies a basalt quarry that has been in use since primeval times. Its stone was used in the surrounding area, later by the Romans in 150 AD. Among other things, it was used for the Roman bridge in Trier and in 1808-1811 Emperor Napoleon I had about 800m³ of the rock broken up and built into the construction of the Maas-Rhine North Canal.
Strolling through the rustic area and seeing the traces of the Romans and Napoleon, which are still visible today, is overwhelming.

The volcano nature trail is designed to be appealing and informative.
