Here you can particularly well experience the typical springy feeling of the moorland soil. Due to the water-saturated peat layers, the ground gives way slightly in many places and feels soft and elastic when walking – a characteristic feature of the high moor landscape in the Hohes Venn.

It's fun to walk on this peat path, although it can feel strange the first time when part of the ground beneath you starts to move. Oh, and don't be too scared if part of your shoe suddenly disappears unexpectedly. Take the driest looking parts on the side of the path if it scares you too much.
