The Odense Å is a river steeped in history and beauty. A magnificent piece of nature in the middle of the city. It is 54 kilometres long in total and winds its way through the idyllic landscape of Funen. The first boat traffic on the river dates back to 1882. Here at the bridge, you can watch the river flow for a moment.

This beautiful bridge carries Kastanievej over the Odense River. The river is the longest waterway on Funen and is typically 30-50 meters wide.
It no longer flows in its original course, having shifted further south with the development of the city center.
In the 12th century, St. Canute's Monastery, an extension of Odense Cathedral, was located directly on the banks of the Odense River.
Since the mid-1970s, the Odense River Trail has offered a walking and cycling route along the river from the city center to Skovsøen in Fruens Bøge.
