The neo-Gothic St. Stephen's Church in Hertme, completed in 1903, is one of the early works of architect Wolter te Riele. In addition, the Grotenhuis estate used to be located in the village.

Neo-Gothic church with a spire, designed by Wolter te Riele (1867–1937), consecrated in 1903. The raised fourth bay of the pseudo-basilical nave is designed as a transept without a gable, and the choir is closed on three sides. The interior features plastered reticulated vaults.* Brass baptismal font by J.H. Brom (1894), tabernacle by F.W. Mengelberg.* Apse window by F. Nicolas and Sons.* A 1904 accordion by Maarschalkerweerd & Zoon (Utrecht).
