      This highlight takes you to the ruins of the Widen Church.

      It was built in the mid-12th century as a small chapel for the Virgin Mary and was enlarged around 1230 to become a Romanesque church with two towers. From 1350 the high Gothic extension was built. The tower, restored in 1996/1997, carries the church bells.

      The Widen Church is the oldest monument in the city of Weida.



      Once you are here, you can take a special photo of yourself. Next to the Widenkirche on Erkenbertplatz you will find a walk-in photo frame made of steel, decorated with vine tendrils, the name "Weida" and a coat of arms.

      From here you have a great view of the Osterburg.
