The iglesia de San Francisco, is part of an old monastery of which only a part has been preserved to the left of the facade. Inside, a beautifully worked and trompe-l'oeil painted vault can be seen.

"Church of San Francisco and San Eulogio" - The Church of San Francisco is one of the so-called Fernandina churches, since it was founded in the 13th century by the Castilian King Fernando III. Its original name and use as such was "Monastery of San Pedro el Real". The monastery was administered by the Franciscan Order, hence the current name of the church. The building was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in the Monument category in 1982. King Ferdinand III of Castile conquered the city of Córdoba for the Christian armies on June 29, 1236, the day of Saints Peter and Paul.

For this reason, the king founded the monastery for the Franciscans, from which the name of the current church "San Francisco" derives. A comprehensive renovation of the church in the 18th century changed its medieval bastil to a baroque appearance. A very interesting building!

This square opens into the space that was previously occupied by the access compass to the Franciscan convent of San Pedro el Real.
