History Mud Corner was the name given to a crossroads on the northern edge of the Ploegsteertbos, very close to the front.
The cemetery was used from 7 June 1917, when the New Zealand Division captured Messines, until December 1917. All but one of the graves are of New Zealand or Australian troops.
The cemetery contains 85 graves from the First World War.
The cemetery was designed by GH Goldsmith.
